One of the last laws Barack Obama signed as president is the Bottles and Breastfeeding Equipment Screening Act. The bill will require the Transportation Security Administration to better accommodate parents traveling with breast milk, infant food and feeding equipment. Before the law, security agents forced parents to dump their breast milk out if it was more than three ounces. The BABES Act will ensure that TSA agents are trained to provide families traveling with breast milk with reasonable, consistent treatment, and that the agency maintains this priority in the future for new hires and retraining activities. Beutler and Senator Kelly Ayotte introduced the act. The new law requires TSA officers to receive training on how to screen breast milk, formula and infant feeding equipment within the first couple months of 2017.
